Developing new delivery models that embrace alternative payment models goes beyond simply restructuring how health systems and physicians are compensated. It includes a commitment to elevating the quality of the care and service, driving improved outcomes, and supporting healthier communities.

As one of the largest payers, CMS has recently released its 10-year strategic plan to set the roadmap of innovation. It includes five drivers that aim to create a “health system that achieves equitable outcomes through high quality, affordable, person-centered care.” Health system leadership need to ready their organizations to turn policy into practice.
